There has been no fundamental change in Pakistan’s policy toward Afghanistan, Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah’s spokesman said Thursday.

The remarks come nearly two weeks after Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited Kabul on invitation from President Ashraf Ghani, where they promised to work together on regional security.

CE’s spokesman, Mujib-ur-Rahman Rahimi urged more international pressure to force Pakistan to cooperate with Afghanistan.

He said that Kabul was still open to talks with Islamabad.

President Ashraf Ghani has accepted Pakistan PM’s invitation to visit Islamabad, but the has not been specified.

Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States echoed that during a speech at the local think tank.

“The Haqqani Network and Taliban are not friends Pakistan. They both brought stress in our relations with US and Afghanistan,” Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said adding that Pakistan has told the Taliban to move out of Pakistan and join Afghan mainstream politics.
